Readers of Quicksilver will understand that the events related by Upnor in this anecdote took place on 12 December 1688, shortly after Jeffreys was run to ground in the Red Cow by Bob Shaftoe and Daniel Waterhouse —— events that in the U.S. and U.K. hardcover editions of Quicksilver are depicted circa p. 886.
