Someone who tries not to be thin, dour, and grim. At least he regrets the intensity his Puritan upbringing put into his youthful interactions.

Daniel in the Lions' Den

Daniel has no shortage of people with mad plans for his future. He was bred to assist with the Armegeddon and Revelation that his father Drake Waterhouse mathematically expected in the year 1666.Daniel-WaterhouseMW.jpg

Considering he is aptly named for the Jewish youth, beloved in the court of Nebuchadnezzar, who was granted divine protection when thrown into a den of lions by jealous courtiers; And his name is a synomyn for a wise and upright judge, EG "a Daniel come to judgment" -- Shakespeare -- He appears pretty normal and 'modern' as a protagonist. Born into the Barker sect, Daniel is a 'gifted' polymath who happens to be dwarfed by the talents of his friends Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wilhelm von Leibniz, his humanity makes him shine.

Daniel unlike Isaac knows he can still sin.

Daniel -- like Mercury -- was also interpreted by Paul Rubens

Daniel’s commitment holds fast. His faith stands firm, and his trust in God is unbent. He represents the human counterpart to the Divine Shepherd. He is the symbol of the ready and faithful answer to the offer of God’s love.

Daniel in Quicksilver

We see three stages of his live in this order: Old age, youth, and his prime. He seems adaptable enough as a the founder of the Massachusetts Bay Colony Institute of Technologickal Arts and not too old to learn new tricks. He's an honest enough lad at school. He's a cynical courtier in his prime; the impartial yet tame fanatic who judges and bears witness.
