Daniel's mistress, for some years during the reign of Charles II and until her death, was the actress Tess Charter. He spents time in the Tower for assisting in the coming of the Glorious Revolution, but is spared as he is the only trustworthy witness to the birth of James II's son. He later marries a young Faith (Page) Waterhouse, who bears him a son, Godfrey William Waterhouse.
